A Celebration of the Children of Nepal

Over the last four years I have given a portion of each working year to Nepal supporting Child Welfare Scheme (CWS) with their work for children and mothers in this beautiful but extremely poor and challenged nation.

My primary role is to help CWS with systems as in this modern age charities are under enormous pressure to report to their western donors and aid agencies.  Whilst in Nepal my camera is always with me; I have built up a huge collection of photographs of the country and its’ people.  Where appropriate, CWS has used many of these images to promote CWS in brochures and other publications.

For this exhibition I have chosen to celebrate the children of Nepal.  Some of these children have an enviable life with a “real childhood” that in the developed west children have not seen for a generation. Others have a life that is so hard in terms of labour, health and poverty that their capacity for joy, even in the most difficult of circumstances, remains a constant inspiration.

Some of the children in my pictures are those that benefit directly from the work that CWS does, others I have just met on my travels. I hope that visitors to this exhibition will enjoy these images and all profits from sales of these photographs will go to CWS to help disadvantaged children in Nepal.
